From The Desk Of The Deanery CoordinatorWelcome to the winter edition of Deanery Digest. I wish for you the warmth of winter - of log-fires burning in the hearth at home (or of central heating), the reflective message of hibernating life that will bloom again in the vigour of spring. I have been reading the profiles of our various parishes and I am struck by the richness, variety and diversity of our faith communities in the deanery. There is a sense of history and tradition; of lively activity for many people; of hopes and plans tempered by certain fears and uncertainties. It is vital I believe, that we share these profiles with all in the deanery. As each parish becomes more aware of their own story, so it would be valuable to have some sense of each others history and achievements; those things that are life-giving and joyful. I formally invite all in the Deanery to our Deanery EXPO which will be held in early August (see details below). This EXPO will afford the opportunity to name the reality of parish life, and to affirm our strengths, gifts and competencies. It will celebrate our history and our diversity, while it affirms the people, service and quality of our Mission as Church. It may not reach the standard of the Catholic Life Exhibition in the 50s, but surely will assure us that Catholic Life today can be claimed as a worthwhile treasure. I hope to see you there. Shalom (Fr. Michael Nolan - Deanery Co-ordinator) |
