Exciting Family Project

Family life can get swept aside by the pressures of work, school and multiple involvements in groups, clubs and teams. Sometimes the demands build up - and almost without noticing it members of the family have little quality time together. In such situations its easy for the essential and the more important parts of our life to fade into the background.

The time to:

bullettalk about what we believe and why

bulletlisten to each other’s hopes and dreams

bulletappreciate the goodness that is in each of us.

This can happen with the sharing of faith in the family. Parents sometimes need time to stand back and set priorities to ensure that there is family time, time for fun together and time to be with God together.

The East Geelong parish is one of ten in the Archdiocese that has volunteered to pilot a project that is about encouraging families to have time to together. There are 25 families participating from the St Maragaret’s and Christ The King Primary Schools.

The project runs for six sessions. The suggestion is that each family sets aside time [as a guide about 30 mins] regularly for them to spend together. The time that they spend together could take many forms. The most important ingredients are being together, talking together, fun and faith.

Families are free to plan their own activities or they may choose to follow the suggestions for activities and prayers that are sent home. The great thing is each family meets in their own home at a time that suits them.

The project coordinating committee consists of Fr.Michael Nolan, Kay D’Arcy, Jenny Griffiths, Iris Appleton and Kayleen Giurco.
