20th Anniversary of Nazareth School, Grovedale

After much planning and hard work, the weekend celebrating the 20th anniversary of Nazareth School, Grovedale, has come and gone. It was a wonderful success, beginning with 160 people laughing and dancing at a Dinner Dance Function at Geelong West Town Hall on 17 July. The next day was also a great success, with a high percentage of parents and children celebrating at the 10.30 am Mass, followed by a shared luncheon.

Like all well-planned and organised events, the final arrangements fell into place and the weekend was a real celebration of the lives and contributions of so many Grovedale families, and those families who came from Torquay before St Thérèse was finally built in 1986.

Special mention must be made to the Nazareth Parents and Friends Association, which helped to arrange great food and music for a wonderful night at the Geelong West Town Hall.

The 10.30 am Mass on Sunday the 18th was a very prayerful way of giving thanks to God. The children involved in the music were superb in their contribution, as was the Nazareth staff all through our celebrations. I was privileged to concelebrate with Nazareth’s first parish priest, Fr Bill Gill, who is now at Doncaster East. Many past and present families and staff enjoyed the opportunity to chat over a light meal after the Mass.

In all there were so many people who excelled in making a memorable occasion. The photo displays in the library, as well as wonderful posters and displays around the school, were appreciated by all.
