on the city of Geelong in the state of Victoria, Australia. The Deanery is part of the
Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne and consists of the parishes of Bell Park, Belmont,
Corio, Drysdale, Geelong, Geelong East, Geelong West, Grovedale, Manifold Heights,
Meredith, Norlane, Queenscliff and Winchelsea. |
| Preamble |
The purpose of the Deanery is to
foster, by means of combined action, both the mission of the Church and pastoral care. |
| Vision

|
We as Catholic people in the
Geelong region, inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, invite co-operative
participation in the life and service of our Church, so as to bring more effectively
encouragement, hope and compassion to our communities. The role of the Deanery Committee is to initiate and develop those
activities that are critical to, or relevant to, the vision of the Deanery. We will
witness the Gospel message by:
 | Respecting parish identities |
 | Working collaboratively with parishes to build Church |
 | Exercising leadership that supports and empowers |
 | Promoting and supporting the sharing of resources and
services |
 | Co-ordinating and facilitating communication |
 | Planning for future needs and directions |
|
| Logo |
The Deanery logo design centres
around the Cross of Jesus and the "G" of Geelong. We are the community of
believers in today's world. Our unique environment is depicted - the sea, the You Yangs,
city and country life. The "blocks" on the Cross remind us that we are a network
of 13 parishes. The rays of light and the streams of living water symbolise our mission -
Pastoral Care, Building the Community, Education in Faith. |
