What Next?
Following are suggestions for ways in which you can respond to the National Sorry Day
initiative and further reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.

What Can You Do?
- Learn about Aboriginal issues, culture and history:

- As a parish community:
 | Incorporate references to Aboriginal peoples and issues, and reconciliation between
indigenous and non-indigenous Australians, into the Sunday liturgy, such as in the Prayer
of the Faithful. |
 | Dedicate a plaque in the church that acknowledges the original inhabitants of the land
on which it stands. |
 | Add an Aboriginal artwork into the church building. There are a number of skilled
Christian Aboriginal artists. |
- Talk about Aboriginal issues and share information with family, friends and neighbours.

- Join the Geelong One Fire Reconciliation Group. Contact Michael Leahy on

- Visit Local Aboriginal Places of Interest:

 | Point Addis Koori Cultural Walk (Great Ocean Rd, 10km past Torquay). |
 | There are numerous sites of cultural significance in the Geelong region. Contact the
Wathaurong Cooperative for further information. |

- Join or start your own Australians for Reconciliation Study Circle. Phone the Victorian
Australians for Reconciliation Coordinator on 1800 060 265.

- Encourage your local politicians and councillors to do more to promote reconciliation in
the Geelong region.
